Mr. Sun
The sun decided to grace us with its presence today, and we were blessed with a gorgeous day in La Jolla! Perfect inspiration for Spring/Summer shopping like bathing suits and nail polishes. I love the pale pinks and purples that are so hot right now, but also the super bright coral pinks, neons, etc. At one point I had 6 different colors in my hand, all different versions of the aforementioned hues, all painfully similar. Making a decision was tricky, but in the end the price got the better of me and I dropped the Esses and went for Revlon "Lily." Their "Top Speed Fast Dry" is exactly that, and I'm obsessed. No more waiting for an hour only to still smudge it and curse to myself every time I see the smudge/ding because I'm too lazy to fix it. You can get them at CVS, probably Target.. and here.
I also need to start bolstering my swim suit selection. That's always a one of my favorite purchases in the Spring-- a new suit to look forward to wearing all summer! Here are a few I've been eyeing...
I've always really wanted a cute polka dot bikini, and the navy/white combo plus the super cute retro style on the J. Crew suit are exactly what I've been looking for! I also love brights and florals (who doesn't on a suit?). The fringe on this last suit is so fly, however maybe slightly impractical.

maps
I am obsessed with the idea of decoration with maps. My next apartment/bedroom with most definitely have maps of all kinds hanging on walls, and I plan on starting a collection of globes. This map wall decal is from Pottery Barn, and they also had some great displays at their stores. My budget will probably require a little bit more thrifting, so I plan on hitting up antique stores and ebay. Here's some more inspiration...

sparkle fetish
I LOVE GLITTER. Pretty much anything covered in glitter is awesome in my book. I've been lusting after Jeffrey Campbell's "Lita" platform booties for a while, especially the multi-color glitter version. Litas are borderline outrageous but I'm obsessed anyways. I was drooling over the shoes Hathaway wore at the Oscars during her rendition of "On my Own."
Of course, those were specially made for her by Brian Atwood, and have somewhere in the ballpark of like 8,000 Swarovski crystals on them. Soooo I won't be getting my hands on those any time soon. Also in love with these...

poetry circle
I love poetry. Never been able to write a poem worth a penny though... probably one of my least favorite writing assignments in school actually. I had to write a haiku in 3rd grade and I wrote something dreadful about clouds and the blue sky. Anyways, I have always admired poets and their skillful and clever writing. I have many favorites, but this one's been stuck in my head for some reason, and Lewis Carroll is a genius.
THE CROCODILE
by: Lewis Carroll (1832-1898)
- How doth the little crocodile
- Improve his shining tail,
- And pour the waters of the Nile
- On every golden scale!
- How cheerfully he seems to grin!
- How neatly spread his claws,
- And welcomes little fishes in
- With gently smiling jaws!

garden idol
For a long time I've had an obsession with vertical gardens. Ever seen one? At the basic level it's plants that grow vertically on a wall. There are all kinds of versions-- as artists, landscapers, and designers alike can all take their own creative approach. The undisputed god, however, is Patrick Blanc. He is a crazy French botanist genius who continues to amaze me with his work. He even dyes parts of his hair green, he's so dedicated to plants haha gotta love the nut. Anyways, his stuff is breathtaking (especially in person!), and I would love nothing more than to cover walls inside and outside of my home with crazy/colorful plants! Maybe I could even hire Blanc.. dream come true. For now I'll just have to settle for drooling over pictures, and reminiscing his walls I saw in Europe. I took these pictures off of his website, http://www.verticalgardenpatrickblanc.com/#/en/home

This is a pretty major project though.. my DIY skills are not up to par. I'm thinking something more like this for my first vertical garden.

| Flora Grubbs Vertical Succulent Garden Panel |
Basically just a big outdoor frame, holding lots of tiny succulent plants! Succulents can be very lovely, and don't need very much water or fuss. Okay, now I'll I need is an apartment to hang one in...
